The Christmas Program at The Maine Children’s Home has reached the maximum number of applications for Christmas boxes that we can take this year.
We will not be accepting any more applications. Please plan early for next year as our limit is reached quickly once we begin taking applications in early November.
If you need Christmas help, there may still be some resources available to you.
Please try one of the following options:
Your children’s school
Your local town office, fire or police
Your local food bank
Your church or a church in your area
An online internet search for Christmas help in Maine
Your caseworker may also have other resources.
Please keep in mind that most Christmas assistance programs do not allow you to apply if you are getting help from any other business, program or organization.
The Christmas program at The Maine Children's Home provides boxes of clothing, toys, books and more to income eligible families for their children who are 12 and under, who live in the state of Maine, and who are willing to pick up a box in Waterville on a mutually arranged distribution day.
To be eligible, you must fall within the guidelines listed below.
Only the parent or legal guardian of the children receiving gifts are allowed to apply and applications will not be accepted after November 30, or when we have reached our limit, whichever comes first. Applicants should have all information available with them when they apply. This information includes names, sizes for clothing and shoes, and toy interests for all eligible children. You will also need to provide Social Security numbers for all income earning members of the household and the total yearly or monthly gross income for the entire household. You will receive information, after you apply, about where and when to pick up your box. Please save this information. It is very important that you pick up your box at your assigned location and time.
When you pick up your box in Waterville, you must show photo ID and you must bring information that proves your income, such as a copy of last year’s tax return, pay stubs, etc. You will also be asked to sign an affidavit stating that the information you have provided is accurate and true and that you are not receiving Christmas help from any other organization. You may only get Christmas gifts from us if you are not getting help from anyone else.
Providing false information in order to obtain gifts from us is considered Theft by Deception. It is a crime that we take very seriously at The Maine Children’s Home and it is punishable by law. If you provide false information to us on your Christmas application, you may be dropped from our program and legal action may be taken.
